Your donation goes directly to enhancing this heritage building, providing a safe and welcoming space for people of all ages, backgrounds, and convictions to gather, to celebrate the arts, to sing, to act, to dance and to learn together.
Over the last three years, Friends have raised over $1,000,000 from congregational members, foundations, federal and provincial governments, and community supporters. With those funds we have installed an elevator, 16 washroom stalls – two of which are accessible, and raised funds for an accessible entrance from William Street, upgraded the facility in a number of smaller but important ways for example, fire alarm sensors. In addition, there is an endowment fund at the Community Foundation in the amount of about $70,000.
There are ongoing improvements envisioned that will make the building more suitable for community use like new flooring for the foyer’s lower hall, installation of a dishwasher/sterilizer for each of our two kitchens, new windows for the upper and lower halls to reduce energy loss and more. Also, we plan to build the endowment at the Community Foundation to $1 million over time.
Thank you for your support in reaching our initial goal and for your ongoing support of the mission of this incredible building.
